Complete Guide to Single Rider in Walt Disney World 2024

This article is your complete guide to the single rider lines at Walt Disney World Resort. When you think of Walt Disney World, you can imagine most of the iconic things like Cinderella Castle, Mickey Bars, matching family t-shirts and … lines. Walt Disney World is known for it infamous queue wait times for certain attractions, especially the more popular ones like Avatar: Flight of Passage and Slinky Dog Dash. Luckily, there is an amazing feature in certain Walt Disney World attractions called the Single Riders Line. The Single Rider Line can cut wait times in half, which truly can make or break a vacation. That’s why we’ve come up with the complete guide to understanding Single Rider in Walt Disney World.

What is the Disney World Single Rider Line?

The Single Rider Line has been one of Walt Disney World’s best hacks for the most magical vacation ever. The Single Rider Line is a one way ticket straight past stand-by queue guests and nearly right on the the attraction. That is – if you don’t mind not riding with your party, because that is exactly what single rider means! Disney uses this line to fill up all the available seating on each attraction. For example, if there is a party of five in line for Expedition Everest, one of their train cars would only have one rider – so that’s where a single rider comes in. This process assists in making sure all attractions are operating at full capacity … and potentially cutting down wait time!

Who Can Use The Disney World Single Rider Line?

Lucky for most Disney guests, the Disney Single Rider Line is accessible to almost everyone. Height requirements still apply to the Single Rider Line, but along with height, there is an age requirement. Guests must be at least seven years of age to experience the Single Rider Line. It is also important to note, if you are traveling with a larger party or other guests and you choose to use the Single Rider Line, you must be okay with being separated. There is a high chance you will be on a different train car than your family or friends. Cast Members do not allow Single Riders to ask for row requests. If you are okay with that, we highly suggest using the Single Rider Line!

Pros of Using Single Rider Line

The single rider lines at disney world will allow you to get on the rides faster. Depending on the ride and the size of the parties trying to get on the ride, singer rider line wait times may vary. Typically, you will be waiting ⅓ to ½ of the posted standby wait time.

Don’t want to pay for Disney Genie+? The single rider line is a way to chop down that wait time without paying the additional money for Disney Genie+ Service.

Cons of Using Single Rider Line

It is great that the singer rider line cuts the wait time but you must remember that your party will be split up on the ride. If you are with kids or you rather just enjoy the ride with your whole party then it is best to wait in the standby. There may be some instances that two single riders may be put together depending on the ride but it is very rare. Although If you are truly single rider at Disney World, then this is not a con for you because you would be riding by yourself anyway!

At Disney’s Hollywood Studios, the Millennium Falcon single rider line will default you as an “engineer” on the ride. The engineer is necessary to the flight crew but if you are looking to be a pilot, then the single rider at Hollywood Studios in Galaxy’s Edge is not for you.

Another con about using singer rider at Disney World is that you may not be able to see the full queue. Disney imagineers worked hard to create interactive and immersive queues for attractions around the parks. For example, in the Test Track single rider queue, you will not be able to design your own car before the ride. This is because the single rider lines go around the standby and miss parts of the queue that were designed for the standby line to enjoy.

Disney Single Rider Line Tips

We hope this article has been helpful for understanding Walt Disney World Single Rider Lines but we still have a few more tips for your next Disney vacation.

One thing to note is that Single Rider Lines at Disney aren’t ALWAYS shorter than Stand-By queues. Certainly, most of these popular attractions have long Stand-By waits, but sometimes the Single Rider Line can be just as long! Make sure to check with Cast Members on current wait times for both queues.

If you are all about the experience of Walt Disney World, the Single Rider Line may not be for you. The Disney Single Rider Line queue is on a different path than Stand-By, meaning you may miss out on innovative Imagineering queue experiences.

Hollywood Studios Single Rider Line for Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run guarantees you will not be chosen for the Pilot position on the ride. This is arguably the most sought out position out of the three: Gunner, Engineer and Pilot. Therefore, if you are looking to drive the Millennium Falcon through hyperspace, you may want to skip the Single Rider Line for this attraction.

Most importantly, the Single Rider Line at Disney is unlimited! That means, for the specific attractions that offer a Single Rider Line, you can use the Single Rider Line as many times you want. With how popular Hollywood Studios rides can be, the Rock ‘n’ Rollercoaster Single Rider Line can sometimes let you enjoy the attraction back to back with almost no wait!
