This is your complete guide for what to do in Disney World when it rains 2023! Florida is known as the sunshine state, which gives a lot of hope for sunny, warm days exploring Disney World. However, on those unfortunate days it does rain, it seems like you need to find some Disney rainy day activities. But don’t let the rain stop you from filling your day with magic and excitement, as there’s still plenty to do and discover on those damp days.
When is Orlando’s Rainy Season?

Orlando’s rainy season is from June through September. August through October is hurricane season, which can cause high winds and heavy rains. August tends to be the wettest month with the highest rainfall with an average of 5.31 inches. But the good news is that these rain showers typically don’t last all day. If you plan on traveling during any of those months, bring an umbrella or poncho, and see what you can do during those blocks of thunderstorms!
Rainy Day Activities in Walt Disney World
Below is a list of our favorite activities to do at Walt Disney World when it’s raining out. We have also included the complete list of all indoor rides at the end of this post in case you just can’t stay away from the parks!
What are the best activities at Disney World when it rains?
- Hotel hop using the monorail
- Spend a day at Disney Springs
- Visit the spa
- Explore your Disney resort
Hotel Hop Using the Monorail

There are 3 resorts located along the Disney “inner” Monorail: Disney’s Contemporary Resort, Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, and Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort. This free mode of transpiration allows guests to hop on and off the monorail at any of their stops with no charge. You’ll have fun exploring each of the hotels (especially if you’re not staying at them), and seeing what unique features each one has to offer. You can shop at the Grand Floridian, grab lunch in the Polynesian, and visit the arcade in the Contemporary, all in one day! Plus, when it stops raining, you can hop back on the monorail and travel to Magic Kingdom and Epcot.
Spend a Day at Disney Springs

Disney Springs has a ton of shops and restaurants to enjoy in Disney World when it’s raining. The best part is many of these experiences are free to hang out and hop from store to store. Your family will also love the movie theater or lucky strike bowling alley.
You’ll also love to hear that Disney Springs has some of the best quick service restaurants in all of Walt Disney World! And let’s be honest eating is always one of our favorite things to do in Disney World when it rains.
Visit the Spa

If you’re on an adults-only trip with no kids, a rainy day is the perfect excuse to go relax at the spa. If there’s rain in the forecast on your trip, or if you know you’re visiting Disney World during rainy season, book your spa treatment in advance. There are spas in many of the resorts, including the Dolphin Hotel (Mandara Spa), Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa (Senses), Saratoga Springs Resort and Spa (Senses), Disney’s Yacht Club Resort (Ship Shape Salon Fitness), and Animal Kingdom Lodge (Zahanati Massage and Fitness Center).
If you’re on a Disney vacation with kids, you can book their own “spa” treatment with the Pirate’s League or Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique, where your child can enjoy an amazing makeover, transforming them into a pirate, prince or princess!
Explore Your Resort

All the Disney World resort has entertaining recreational activities for kids (and the adults). There are some activity rooms or small movie theaters that will play Disney movies for your entertainment. Some of the deluxe resorts, such as Animal Kingdom Lodge, offer plenty of activities to keep your family busy for the whole rainy day, such as painting and Pumbaa’s Fun and Games Arcade, We suggest asking for your resort’s rainy day calendar to plan for a rainy day!
