kong-one-of-scariest-rides-at-universal-orlando

What to Expect: A 4-D motion simulation ride with a Universal height requirement of 36″. Take a journey into the unknown on a jungle expedition on a mysterious island. Ride around on a trackless expedition truck through temples, jungles, and caves as you have to fight off prehistoric predators throughout. This is one of the scariest rides at Universal Studios for those who don’t wish to be the lunch of a ferocious carnivorous dinosaur or a swarm of giant bugs.

Location: Islands of Adventure Park, in between Toon Lagoon and Jurassic Park.

Thrill Scale: 4 out of 10

Tips and Tricks: This ride can be very overstimulating and can cause motion sickness for those who are prone to it. This Universal Orlando thrill ride is not meant for children, but there is a pretty awesome opportunity to meet King Kong up close with one of the coolest animatronics in the park. As one of the best Universal Studios thrill rides, the wait time for this ride can get rather high, but if you don’t have Express Pass, you might want to skip it.

Height Requirement: Must be at least 36″ (92cm)

#9 – Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey

What to Expect: A 4D motion simulator ride on a track with a minimum height requirement of 48″. Walk through the halls of Hogwarts Castle and enter the Forbidden Journey with Harry Potter and his friends throughout the school grounds. Guests board an enchanted bench, an omnimover-style, to lift off the ground with Hermione’s Floo Powder spell. This is one of our favorite Harry Potter rides for fans as you’re right in the center of all of the iconic locations on Hogwarts’ grounds.

Location: Islands of Adventure – Hogsmeade Village

Thrill Scale: 4.5 out of 10

Tips and Tricks: Many guests have said this is one of the most intense rides at Universal Orlando, not only for the dementors and the Forbidden Forest but for the extreme motion sickness that can come with it. There are moments in this ride where guests are almost suspended upside-down, and it can get pretty rough out there! There is no better theming of Hogwarts Castle than inside the queue, so we suggest taking a stroll to see Dumbledore’s Office, The Gryffindor Common Room, and more!

Height Requirement: Must be at least 48″ (122cm)

Most of the thrill is right at the very end, but it is intense, so prepare yourself to end up as a prehistoric appetizer potentially.

For about 90 seconds, guests are lifted and dropped from various heights until the ultimate fear has been achieved.

Location: Marvel Super Hero Island

Thrill Scale: 6.5 out of 10

Tips and Tricks: If you are afraid of heights, then this is one of the Universal scary rides that you might want to skip. 2024 Scariest Rides at Universal Orlando FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What’s the most intense ride at Universal?

A: In our opinion, the VelociCoaster is, without a doubt, the most intense ride at Universal Orlando Resort, which is the main reason why we graded it a 10/10 on the thrill scale above. This Jurassic Park-inspired roller coaster shoots riders through two launches, clocking in at over 70 MPH. We also highly recommend trying out the test seat outside of the ride as this roller coaster is one of the few to not have a shoulder harness which can be scary to some guests.

Q: What is the scariest ride at Islands of Adventure Orlando?

A: As discussed above, nothing beats the VelociCoaster when it comes to heart-stopping thrills at Islands of Adventure. Guests are in store for some of the scariest flips and inversions throughout this ride.

Q: What is the scariest ride at Universal Studios Florida?

A: From our experience visiting Universal Orlando over the years, Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit is by far the scariest ride at Universal Studios Florida. For starters, it’s the only outdoor roller coaster in this park, with the other two coasters, the Revenge of the Mummy and Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts, both being inside. But it also has one of the most unique vertical lifts of any theme park roller coaster.

Q: What is the scariest ride in Harry Potter world?

In our opinion, the scariest Harry Potter ride is also the best Harry Potter ride in all of Universal Orlando, which is Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure. Guests will join Hagrid on a heart-racing journey through the Forbidden Forest with multiple launches and drops throughout. One of our favorite tips for guests looking for the ultimate experience is to pick the motorbike seat over the sidecar.

Q: Which is scarier Hulk or VelociCoaster?

A: Although both the Hulk and the VeolociCoaster are two of the scariest rides at Universal Studios Florida we believe that the VelociCoaster wins this competition. This is mostly due to the VelociCoaster being faster than the Hulk and also having longer inversions throughout the ride.
